The mural has been commissioned by Stoke-on-Trent City Centre Business Improvement District, which has secured £30,000 from Staffordshire Police's safer streets fund to improve Hope Street. It has been created over a number of weeks by graphic artist and muralist Rob Fenton and tattoo artist Alastair Barnett - and is the first of four new artworks which will brighten the Hanley street as part of a wider project. The huge Hope Street artwork depicts a worker at the former Shelton Bar steelworks in Etruria - which is said to have inspired HG Wells novel The War of the Worlds. ![]() A new mural celebrating Stoke-on-Trent's industrial heritage has been unveiled as part of a city centre clean-up project. ![]()
